The
GCS Rapid Survey System (RSS) is a ATV-mounted surveying platform
powered by the GeoSite Manager System. Map and manage a site faster
than ever possible on foot.
The RSS is ideal for mapping, staking and managing of large sites.
With an RSS, in one day, an operator running the GeoSite
Manager System software module GCS:
Topo could map 200 acres (81 hectares) and collect 20,000 points.
Survey and Stake
Contractors
involved in any kind of earth moving will save tremendous amounts
of time with an RSS on a large project. With the power to survey
and stake in your hands, you'll never have to call a surveyor back
to check your progress or replace disturbed stakes. RSS software
GCS: Point makes it easy for one
operator to place stakes while the rest of the crew continues to
work. Accidents happen, stakes get run over, but your RSS operator
can quickly locate the exact location, automatically recalculate
the grade difference and replace that stake in minutes.
Any operation requiring the ability to survey a large area can
save time and money with an RSS. Commercial surveying operations
will not find a faster, more accurate way to collect acres of survey
data. Power production facilities burning coal can save hours on
every survey of their coal pile. Building and underground contractors
working on large projects can utilize the point finding abilities
of the RSS to lay out boundaries and stake important features with
ease. Agricultural and landscaping operations laying fertilizer
or seed can design and survey complex, non-linear areas to optimize
distribution of product.

of the abilities of the RSS to your operation.
Manage Your Sites
The
RSS makes a sensible compliment to a fleet of construction equipment.
The ability to survey and map on demand with the RSS allows you
to monitor job progress and assure that all earthwork is to grade.
In addition, your rapid surveying ability allows you to check the
work of subcontractors against the site plans for error. Measure
and monitor piles of earth, topsoil and crush -- know exactly how
much you have, how much you paid for, and how much you need.
The RSS uses the same software and interface as any earthmoving
equipment using GCS machine control. The RSS can thus be used as
a training platform for machine operators learning the software.
However, any operator using equipment in your fleet that is not
outfitted with GCS machine control will be working solely from stakes.
For these operators, the RSS serves as a digital map of the site
in the field, making visualization of the project easier.
Service Multiple Jobs
Many larger companies manage several job sites simultaneously.
The RSS can provide mapping and surveying service to multiple job
sites. The entire unit is easily packed up and rolled into a small
trailer for over-the-road transport. Setup and tear-down of the
RSS is relatively quick -- as little as 15 minutes when setting
up a previously mapped site and less than 5 minutes to tear down.
The onboard computer can store thousands of job site maps, and several
versions of each. The large memory capacity of the RSS computer
means that you'll never need to break jobs into sections -- map
hundreds of acres in one large file. Why pay a survey crew to replace
a handful of stakes, who could take days to arrive, when you can
call your RSS over from another site and replace those stakes the
same day?
Physical Features of the RSS:
- Bright 12" LCD display, visible even in direct sunlight,
on swivel mount for easier visibility when not seated
- Rugged cast aluminum computer housing
- Removable positioning pole for accurate point location - wherever
it moves, your onscreen location moves
- Storage for stakes and tools
- Modular components - the RSS works with several types and manufacturers
of positioning equipment
- Compatible with several ATV configurations
