Monitor the size of your power plant coal pile with a quick pass over the pile with the ATV-mounted GCS Rapid Survey System. GCS: Topo (a GeoSite Manager System module) generates topographic maps as you drive. For the surfaces too steep to drive, you can use a hand laser to map them. All mapping devices feed into one on-screen map. Once you've mapped the pile, bundled software allows you to calculate the difference in volume between two different maps and then calculate tonnage. If necessary, core samples can be used to check for differences in density.

With accurate information, you can monitor your assets and keep better usage statistics. When your auditors and production managers want to know exactly how much coal you have in the pile, you can show them with a level of accuracy unobtainable with arial surveys. Your data can determine which plants really are efficient and which are not.
