GCS: Point makes keeping track of points on a map easier. Use an externally generated topographical map or make your own with GCS: Topo and record points of importance - such as stake placement. Recording a point is easy - one key stroke establishes a point at your current location. When you need to return to a point, you can locate it in a design file graphically, see your current position numerically and graphically on screen, and compare that to your desired position. You can also see all other points onscreen if further staking is necessary. If you have point data already, you can import it into GCS: Point. For instance, if you have been provided with a map and stake points
from a surveyor, you can import that stake information and reference
it later. If you are creating a new grade from those stakes, you can
work around or drive over your stakes. The software will keep track
of the stake locations, and when you return to those points to update
and replace grade stakes, it will indicate how far off grade you are.
