A Note About Solar Storming

Solar storming can affect satellites. This in turn can affect position
signals your receiver gets. When doing high accuracy work, such as fine
grading, it is a good idea to check these sites to see if there are any
solar major storms in progress which may affect that accuracy. When
such a storm is occurring, it is a good idea to either do work where
less accuracy is necessary or check a control point frequently to watch
for drift of the GPS signal. The following links give information
regarding solar magnetic storms.

If you do run across anomalous data, which you suspect is due to solar
effects, contact the office and we will let you know what the current
magnetic flux is and whether that is likely that your problem is due to
solar effects or if we are aware of others having the same problem.
